What should our Logo look like for our 40th?

Logo Design Contest Rules

Purpose As part of our celebration of 40 years as a hockey association Sylvan Lake Minor Hockey Association is challenging our community, Alumni players and parents as well as our current players and parents to create a temporary new “Lakers 40” logo that will be used for the web site, printed matter, T-shirts, as a jersey patch and so on until the end of the 2019/20 hockey season.
Guidelines
o The logo must include the words “Sylvan Lake” and “Lakers” as well as incorporating the number 40.
o The logo MUST be the original work of the submitter
o The logo should use no more than the following colors; white, black, red and yellow plus 1 colour of the artist’s choice.
o The logo may be created using pencils, crayons, markers, and paint. Also, the logo may be created with a computer drawing program, but of course, all images must be original
o The logo should be simple, not be complicated or confusing, and all elements must be discernible when reproduced at a 2 inch by 2 inch size.
Submission Deadline April 24, 2019, 12:00 noon MST. Only entries received or postmarked by April 24, 2019 will be considered.
Participation The competition is open to current residents of the Town of Sylvan Lake and alumni of SLMHA and current players and their parents.
Submission
Format Designs must be submitted in any of the following formats: .jpg, .tiff, or .pdf (if a hard-copy design sketch is submitted, it must be scanned or otherwise rendered into one of the above computer formats and submitted). Images submitted can be larger than, but must be no smaller than, three inches by three inches (3” x 3”).
Judging
A committee comprised of 3 SLMHA Directors and 2 players (from the 2018/19 season) will assess and decide on a winner. Entries will be judged on their visual appeal, adherence to the concept prompting the contest, quality of design, and ease of reproduction for the purposes stated above. Their decision will be final.
Copyright SLMHA will acquire ownership of the winning logo by assignment of copyright, and the winning designer will disclaim any trademarks and without limitation all other rights related to the design (Official Entry Form Required). By submitting a logo for entry in the competition, the designer acknowledges that he/she is the person that created the logo and is the rightful owner. The designer also certifies that the logo does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and that it does not violate any copyright.

Prize One winner will receive a SLMHA custom hooded sweatshirt with their logo on the front.
