U9 Lakers - Part of Intro to Hockey

7 & 8 years old - Intro to Hockey

U9 Lakers are 7 & 8 years old, and for the 2020/2021 season that means their year of birth is 2013 and 2012.  Our U9 Lakers play in the West Country League.

For 7 & 8 year old players who are new to Hockey, SLMHA has developed a new Program called Learn to Play.  This is a great opportunity for U9 aged players to start the season and learn the basics of the game in a fun, cooperative and supportive environment.  After learning the basics they are able to enter the regular U9 stream at a prorated rate.  Check out the Learn to Play tab for more information.

U9 UPDATES:

Hi U9's, Our U9 Director has step down this year so I will be filling this roll in the intern.

We are currently looking for someone to step up and take on the U9 director role, in this case the role would only be one year and the person has to be voted in by the current board members, if they would like to continue on, they would then have to be voted in at our next AGM. If you are interested or want to know what the role responsibilities are feel free in reaching out to me my contact info is at the bottom of this email.

With that all said, I'm Sure all of you are wondering what the start of the season is going to look like. Well this year we are offering Three Optional physical distanced prep skates for all kids that have registered Up-To-Date before any placement skates/evaluation skates take place, this allow all the kids with in the U9 division to hit the ice and get the rust off, before any placements happen. We are planning this year to make three skill based leveled Cohorts with 18- 24 kids with in each Cohort.

We have randomly spit up all the current U9 kids and put them into three groups, these groups will stay the same until after the first placement skate, then we will be moving kids around.

All the kids with in all three groups will hit the ice Saturday Sept.12th all kids are to show up at the rink 15 min's before ice time dressed and ready to hit the ice, parents you will need to sign your child in to each skate, there will be forms at the door ( I'm looking for someone to take on the sign in responsibility for each group this is a real easy job as all the kids will already be Rostered to each skate all you  would have to do is keep the paperwork until I can get it from you. please email me if you can do this for your Child's group)

I will be reaching out in a separate email to all the on-ice personal to ensure we have enough on ice helpers for each ice time.
As always if you have any question or concerns feel free to drop in a line, I'm always open to talk hockey!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see everyone at the rink again!

Cheer's,
