West Central Hub Tryout Schedule

Dressing Room Rules

As we proceed into tryouts the Hub has a few rules with regards to players and dressing rooms. We will require that all players come to the rink fully dressed and arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to their scheduled ice time.  There will be a dressing room available to put on skates, helmets and gloves, but players are asked to spend as little time in the room as possible and make sure that they are physically distancing from other players while in the room.

After the ice session please exit the room as quickly as possible to minimize gatherings within the dressing rooms. We anticipate these rules relaxing once we get into our cohort groups, but will be enforced until that time.  Any players found intentionally horsing around and/or not physical distancing in the room will be not be allowed in the rooms before or after any of the subsequent skates.

We are all working together to make sure that our players are able to get on the ice and appreciate the cooperation from both the parents and players as we work through this difficult time.

Thank you,

Geoff Humphrey

WC HUB AA Tryouts - Tryouts will begin with physical distance sorting the week of Sept. 14-20th for all 4 teams. All players will be provided with a minimum of two skates & then cuts will be made in order to get our team numbers down to cohort levels, based on information provided to us from Hockey Alberta.

The initial skates for all teams will follow with guidelines set out by Hockey Alberta and AHS in order to provide a safe environment for all competitors. More information with regards to times and dates will be provided by Sept. 13th for all players.

AAA & AA Tryouts: Can a player attend both tryouts?

AAA tryouts will start with two physical distancing skates. This is not considered a cohort group and and players released after those two skates will not have to wait the 14 days. After the first two skates they will go into a cohort with the remaining players. Red Deer AAA is required to have teams selected and registered by September 27th. Any players released between the start of the cohort and the 27th will be required to isolate before joining another cohort.

AA tryouts will start the week of September 14th with physical distancing skates. All players are able to join these skates as they will be distanced and thus not considered a cohort. We will continue physical distance tryouts until at least the end of September as this allows players to leave the AAA cohort and immediately join our skates because we will still be using physical distancing. Any players released from AAA towards the end will have to wait the 14 days if we have already gone into our cohort. This 14-day wait will in no way affect their chances of making the AA team. Our teams are not required to be selected until October 25th, so there will be plenty of time to complete tryouts for those that have to isolate. The reality of this is that the last cuts coming from AAA tryouts will very likely be the better players trying out and we won't require multiple skates to make decisions for our teams.
